Author's Guide
Thank you for your interest in publishing with CEJISS. CEJISS is a biannual publication, whose peer-reviewed articles are selected to assist scholars and decision makers in understanding central issues in international and security studies, identify new and important areas of research, encourage the debates which will help direct the future of the discipline. CEJISS goes to great lengths to ensure that all contributions to the journal are adequately promoted and guarantees and extensive and growing readership. At present, CEJISS is read in more than 85 countries with an average of 12,000 readers per issue.
CEJISS currently publishes three types of contributions:
1) Research Articles (are published electronically and in hard-copy format)
2) Book Reviews (are published electronically and in hard-copy format)
3) On-Line Contributions (are only published electronically unless otherwise discussed with the Editor in Chief)
Contribution Information
Research Articles: (6500-7500 words on A4 pages – including notations [Chicago Manual style of format], in 12 Times New Roman font, right margin set at 1.5 cm, line-spacing 1.5) represent the main interest of CEJISS. These should introduce new concepts and ideas, use contemporary/current empirical cases and generally contribute to the field of international relations and/or security studies.
Book Reviews: (1500 words on A4 pages – including notations [Chicago Manual style of format], in 12 Times New Roman font, right margin set at 1.5 cm, line-spacing 1.5) are an important way for those interested in international relations and/or security studies to gain in-depth analyses of the field’s literature – new and old.
Please Note: If you are considering writing a Book Review for CEJISS, please first contact the Review Editor, Natalia Kierczak, to discuss whether your book choice is appropriate for publication in CEJISS.
All contributions to CEJISS should focus generally on current issues and theories of international and security studies, divided into 5 main themes:
• International, European and Regional Security
• International Relations Theory
• International and European Political Economy
• Area Studies Related to International, European and Regional Security
• International, European and Regional Organisations [UN, NATO, EU] as they relate to Security
While it is envisioned that each journal issue will draw on multiple areas, periodically CEJISS concentrates on special themes. As such “Special Editions” will direct scholarly attention to emergent international and security issues. All contributions must retain analytical and empirical components. CEJISS maintains the highest standards in contribution selection. All submissions must be sent electronically to: contributions@cejiss.org
Online Contributions
In addition to our printed journal, CEJISS welcomes contributions for publication on our website. Such contributions must be relevant to the issues of the printed journal, focused primarily on:
• International, European and Regional Security
• International Relations and Security Theory
• International and European Political Economy
• Area Studies of relevance to other areas
• International, European and Regional Organisations
Online Contributions: (2000 words on A4 pages – including notations [Chicago Manual style of format], in 12 Times New Roman font, right margin set at 1.5 cm, line-spacing 1.5) are not-peer reviewed, and their publication is left up to the discretion of the Editor in Chief, acting on the advice of select members of the IAB. Typically, online contributions remain accessible on the CEJISS homepage for 3 months, after which they are archived.
Please Note: From start to finish, the editorial process takes between 4 and 8 weeks. If you have submitted a contribution, CEJISS will inform you of its status on request as well as inform you once the IAB and the EB have made their decisions.
